“Do you see the images flashing in my eyes?
Can you hear what my heart is whispering?
When the light of the day is given away,
When the cacophony of life gives away to silence of the dusk
When all life is still & away in the land of dreams
Meet me there by the shade of the banyan tree
The very place where you stole my heart at first
I’ve been waiting too long my love
To share with you a sea of things
Be there, be not late…
Under the velvety sky, watching the bejeweled sky
I shall share from my heart’s treasure chest
All that has been tucked away, for all these year
Be there my love… I will see you there…”
A faint figure, bent over, she looked frozen at the spot
Beneath an o’le banyan tree, she looked a part of it
A closer look & you see few silver strands partially covering her face
A beauty she sure was in her youth, you could see,
Etched on that tender face glimpse of a fair maiden
Drops of tears fled from her face, taking cover
Waiting here to keep her promise…
Youth passed her by but the pain stranded…
Waited, this fair damsel, that night for her beloved
Fate had other plans
Messengers of death met him on his way …
Fate! Ah cursed fate! Crossed the path of a young love
She waits on for her love, whom she knows will never meet her,
Beneath the banyan’s shade where he first stole her heart…
Love sure has strange ways…
Every passing day before the dusk gives way to dawn
One finds a faithful love, wait for her precious…
“He promised to meet me… yes… he promised”
Whispers her faint heart…
And on she waits & will keep waiting…
Till her precious returns for her.
